    6 Dec 2007      A page with suggestions on getting an obituary for your Haskell County
                               genealogy research, is now on the Haskell TXGenWeb page.

                               Cemeteries of Texas website.  This survey was recently completed by

    2 Dec 2007      The Research links featured for December are about abbreviations...the ones
                                we see in documents from the past.   Medical abbreviations, legal abbreviations
                                and government agencies.    Look for the box on the main Haskell County

     1 Nov 2007     November's Featured Research Site contains a list of Cemetery
                                Sites where genealogists can look for burials of their kinfolk.
                                Cemetery Listings give good information about the deceased including
                                dates of birth and death plus, in many cases, marriage information and

     1 Oct 2007      The 1930 Census is the Featured Research Site for October.
                                This is the most recent census available to the public.    Photos
                                from the USDA's Historic Photos site are used to show a 1930s
                                event in Haskell County when a family came into town in their
                                covered wagon looking for work in the cotton fields.   Thanks to
                                Suzie Henderson for informing us of these photos.

         2 Aug 2007    Look at the Postcards collection in the two sites in the
                                "Featured Research Site for August".   These are mostly older,
                                 nostalgic postcards or those of  historical significance.

                                 There are more photos of the grave markers in the Rochester
                                  Cemetery transcription.

       22 Jul 1007     The Hugh Read and Leila Belle Webb Read Family page is

                                   The Nation" where a click of the mouse takes you to a map of  the U.S.

        2 May 2007       New!!   The Rochester Cemetery survey which was just completed

 The featured genealogy research site for May is "TXGenWeb Archives"
                                    which showcases all of the data included in the archive collection
                                    of genealogy data for each Texas county.     Click on the county
                                    of your choice to see what is available there.

         1 Apr 2007       Mick Bradley has sent two family photos plus a list of names of those
                                    in the pictures.   He asks for help in identifying which of the children is
                                    which.    Also see his Query on the Queries page.

                                   The featured research site for April is "The 1880 Census".   Search it
                                   via the link provided and read what this census provided for the first
                                   time and how the LDS church indexed it so it could be searched

        17 Mar 2007     Sandra Behne has transcribed several years of Early Haskell
                                    County Marriage Records.   The years 1885 thru 1893 are now
                                    on the Haskell TxGenWeb page, thanks to Sandra.

           01 Mar 2007    The featured research site for March is the USGenWeb
                                       Family Group Sheet Project.   All states are represented with
                                       an FGS page of their own, including Texas.   You can use the
                                       form provided to post a Family Group Sheet about your ancestors

             18 Feb 2007     Two more biographical sketches are online.   One is of
                                         Olive "Ollie" Montgomery and the other is about William Welch
                                         Ollie Montgomery's father.   Both of these family sketches are
                                         courtesy of Elizabeth "Liz" (Cathey) Maxson who provided the

            11 Feb 2007      New family photo pages plus a new biographical sketch with
                                         photos, are now added to Haskell's webpage.    Thanks to
                                         Liz Maxson who has sent many family photos for the Montgomery,
                                         Welch and Matthews families of Haskell County.    Liz also provided
                                         notes from her genealogy files about her mother, Beryl Montgomery
                                         Cathey, and her tales of growing up in Haskell.

                                         The 1965 Haskell High School Yearbook is now online thanks
                                          to Ed Williams who scanned all of the class pages which
                                          included every class from Senior to Kindergarten.

                                          A new feature on the Haskell County Genealogy page will be a
                                          "Featured Research Site for the Month"   February's site is
                                          Courthouse Experiences where people from across the United
                                          States have given their experiences (good or bad) when doing
                                           genealogy research at various county courthouses.

              21 Jan 2007      The 1952 edition of Haskell High School's "The Chieftain"
                                           Yearbook is now online.   Ed Williams scanned all of the
                                            class pages, including Junior High, and provided them to
                                            the Haskell TxGenWeb Page.

             11 Jan 2007       Thanks to Ed Williams who has scanned the pages in the 1950
                                           "Chieftain" Yearbook for Haskell High School, we now have
                                            those pages online.   All of the student pictures, the class officers,
                                            the faculty and even the 7th and 8th grade class pictures, are included.
